This Christmas

Be sure to join us back at Xroads Kidz this Christmas Eve as we have some fun stuff planned for Preschool and Elementary. If you are in 4-5th Grade, you can either go to the adult service with your family or you can help us by volunteering in Children's Ministry! Just let us know! Merry Christmas!

Write Us!

We'd like to let you all help us with this very cool blog that we have. So, e-mail jkoerner@xroadschurch.org and write what you learned this past week at Xroads Kidz - the Warehouse or Connections Cafe. Then, we'll post it for everyone to see! It can even just be one sentence. I hope to hear from you soon!

Wisdom

If you could have one wish come true, what would you ask for? Would you want to be rich or famous? What about being powerful? The Bible tells us about someone who wished for something even better than all of these things and God made it come true. Join us this weekend and find out what it was.

I have really enjoyed the Kidz Blog over the past year! Thank you for checking it out. However, some good changes have been made and I am excited to tell you that Mr. Jason will now be taking care of the weekly blog. So stay tuned and see what great things are next.

Movie Weekend

Now that summer is ending, it’s time for school again. Speaking of school, one of my favorite teachers used to sarcastically praise my eventual understanding of something by saying, “Well give the boy a prize!” In honor of her, and all teachers, we would like to give you a prize before we officially kick-off the fall season. So join us for a movie this weekend as we have fun together and learn even more about God.

Love

The last week of Chemical Reactions is here. Wow, we sure have looked a lot of amazing things such as Faith, Goodness, Knowledge, Self-Control, Patience, Service, and Kindness. Stop by the lab one more time as we wrap everything together this weekend with the awesome element of Love. What’s the greatest kind of love a person can receive? Be sure to join us and find out.

Kindness

Our Chemical Reaction series is winding down with just two more character elements to look at. So far we have examined Faith, Goodness, Knowledge, Self-Control, Patience, and Service. The crazy chemistry will continue this week with the element of Kindness. So check out the lab as our scientists help us to discover how God wants us to focus on others instead of ourselves.

Service

Faith, Goodness, Knowledge, Self-Control, and Patience have all been put under the microscope as we have studied how these character elements help us to better love God and others. Our Chemical Reaction series will continue this week as we look at the element of Service. Join us in the lab as our puzzled professors try to figure out what this really looks like.

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Patience

We are now half way through our Chemical Reaction series as the character elements of Faith, Goodness, Knowledge, and Self-Control have all been carefully examined. We will experiment next with the element of Patience as we return to the laboratory for more radical reactions. Join us this weekend as we will take a look at someone who, with God’s help, did something amazing by showing a tremendous amount of patience.

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Self-Control

Our Chemical Reaction series this summer has allowed us to explore the elements of Faith, Goodness, and Knowledge so far. The element of Self-Control will be next as we look at someone who people tried to discourage from following God’s instructions. Did this person practice self-control? Join us in our ludicrous laboratory and find out. I just hope our scientists will have a little more self-control with the experiments.

Knowledge

We are now three weeks into our Chemical Reaction series and the lab has been a BANG! So far we have looked at the character elements of Faith and Goodness. Next, we will be experimenting with the element of Knowledge. Join us again this weekend for more scientific silliness as we carefully examine what knowledge is and why it is important in regards to our relationship with God.

Goodness

Two weeks ago we kicked off our Chemical Reaction series with an EXPLOSION as we looked at the character trait of Faith. This week we will be discussing Goodness and how we go about expressing that to others. Did you know that the Bible says there was once a young boy who was made king? Join us in the lab this weekend for more chemistry craziness to find out what this boy actually did as king.

Freedom

Can you believe the 4th of July is here already? That means it’s time for cookouts, parades, and fireworks as we celebrate the independence of our country. Of course, we would not have any of the freedoms that we do if it were not for God’s blessings and the brave people who have served this country. Join us this weekend to meet and hear from a real American hero.

Miracles

A miracle is a special event, one that you couldn’t do on your own. Miracles come from God and are God’s way of telling us that something is important. Although Charlotte’s Web is not a true story, it reminds us that God really does perform miracles and he allows us to see them, not so that we will believe in him, but in order to show us that there is no one else like him. Be sure to catch the end of our movie and see the miracle of Charlotte’s Web.

Friendship

A real friend is always a friend, especially in times of trouble. In fact, this is when friendship is at its best. The Bible says that a friend loves at all times. This means that a friend is always there, even if things are good or bad. God wants us to always help others but even more so when someone else is in need. Join us as we continue Charlotte’s Web and take a close look at friendship.

Giving

It’s easy to be nice to those who are nice to us. But have you ever been nice to someone for no reason at all? The Bible says that God loves a cheerful giver. This means that God wants us to have a heart that enjoys helping other people. We are not to give to others so that they will give something to us, but simply for the sake of loving them. Join us for a movie this weekend as we take a peek at what “giving” looks like.

Danger Zone

Did you know that God gave us the Bible to help us stay safe and strong? The Bible is full of instructions and it tells us what to do so that we can always make the wise choice. But what if we don’t know what the Bible says? Check out the Warehouse and find out about two people who were building a house, one listened to God but the other did not.

Bad Fruit

Have you ever done something bad and knew it was wrong right after you did it? For example, maybe you listened to a friend instead of your parents or you listened to another student instead of your teacher. Even worse, maybe you listened to someone else instead of God. Join us in the Warehouse to find out why it really matters as to who you obey.

Sleepless in the Temple

Follow the leader is a fun game to play, but did you know that just about everyone follows a real leader such as a parent, teacher, or coach? These people may help you, give you advice, or even encourage you. More importantly, your leaders can help you to know God better. Obeying your leaders will also help you to become a great leader so that you can help others to know God.

House Rules

The Bible tells us to obey our parents. If you’re anything like me, you might not do this as well as you should. But did you know that how we obey our parents shows what we think about God? Our actions, words, and attitudes show respect for God because he wants us to obey our parents.

Do you obey your parents the way you obey God? Why or why not?

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Perfect Storm

Every day we make all kinds of choices, like what to wear and what to eat and what games to play. We also make choices about obedience like deciding to obey or disobey. The Bible says it’s always best to obey the FIRST time because it helps us to avoid trouble for ourselves and others. Join us in the K-town Warehouse and see what happened to a guy named Jonah who didn’t obey the first time.

Did you ever not obey the first time and then later wished you had?

Never Alone

When you stand up for what is right, you show others who God is. Unfortunately, not everyone will agree when you do this. Some may even give you a hard time. But remember you are never alone. God will always help you to stand up for what is right - no matter what others think or do! Stop by K-town this week and hear about a guy named Stephen who stood for what was right and knew God would be with him.

Have you been given a hard time when standing up for what is right?

Living Loud

What would you do if you knew something was true but no one believed it? Would you say something or keep quiet? What if you saw Jesus die on the cross and then you saw him come back to life. Then Jesus told you to tell others what you had seen. Would you do it? Come and see how when you stand for what’s right, you show others who God is.

A New Day

Birthdays, holidays, and achievements are great reasons to celebrate. However, one of the best reasons has to do with a victory. No, it’s not a sports victory. It's Jesus’ defeat of death. When Jesus beat death, he became our bridge to heaven. Now we can stand for what is right because Jesus is alive. Join us to celebrate!

The Darkest Hour

“Just do what’s right.” This sounds easy but it can be a difficult thing to do. When you stand up for what is right, your friends may give you a hard time and make you feel all alone. But did you know that you are never really alone? Visit K-town and find out who can help you stand for what is right even when others don't.

Joining Jesus

Have you ever tried to invent a new game to play? I wanted to do that once but I spent all of my time thinking about how to do it instead of just playing a game that I already had? Sometimes we try to invent other things like different ways to help people. However, the best way may be to look for where Jesus is already working and then simply join him. Check out K-town to see where and how you can do this.

P-R-A-Y

God is great, God is good, let us thank him for this _____ . When you talk to your friends do you always say the same thing over and over? Do your words rhyme or follow some type of pattern? So why do so many of us talk to God like that? After all, isn’t God our friend too? Check out K-town and find out how this praying stuff is really supposed to work.

As You Are

Have you ever tried to pretend that you liked something just to fit in? Maybe your friends enjoy a certain television show or participate in an activity that you just don’t care about. But in order to be included, you might try to show interest as well. Did you know that Jesus loves you all the time no matter what you do or think or say? This means you don’t have to pretend to be someone you aren’t because Jesus loves just the way you are.

Absolute Authority

Have you ever asked Jesus out for a pizza or a movie? While church is a great place for Jesus to be a part of our lives, he really wants to be a part of our whole life. This means we can ask Jesus to be a part of everything we do. Drop by K-town to find out why we should.

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Unfairly Good

Have you ever felt like things just aren’t fair? Maybe someone else got two pieces of pizza and you only got one. Can you think of a time when you were happy that things weren’t fair? Did you know that Jesus often treated people unfairly. Yes, it’s true – but his unfairness was always a good thing. How could this be? Come to K-town and see what we mean.

Perfectly Real

Jesus was a real person who lived here and did real things. So how is he any different from me or you? Did you know Jesus lived in a way that no one else has been able to do? Check out K-town to find out what else was so special about him.

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

You’ve Got a Friend

Have you ever done something all by yourself without any help? It sure does feel good to do things on your own but did you know that two people are better than one? The Bible says friends can get more done together. Stop by K-town to see how you can be even stronger.

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

Measure of Faith

Although the ice was pretty, the trees here sure did take a beating last week. Once the ice began to melt, the stronger trees sprang back while the weaker ones broke. Did you know that a person’s faith in God is actually a lot like a tree? Faith can be big and strong or even small and weak. So how does a person grow strong in faith? Does it just take enough water like trees do? Check out K-town and find out.

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Fairness

What is your favorite ride at the fair? Is it the roller coaster, the bumper cars, or the Ferris wheel? I wonder what God’s favorite ride would be. If God did have a favorite ride, do you think it would be possible for him to have favorite people as well? What would his favorite kind of person be like and why? Come to K-town and find out what God says about having favorites.

Resourcefulness

What is the most uncomfortable thing you have ever had to do? For example, most people don’t like speaking in front of a large group of people. But did you know that God can help you with the things that you don’t think you can do? Even Moses, one of the most important people in the Bible, was often uncomfortable. Check out K-town and find out how God was able to help him.

Thursday, January 15, 2009

Resourcefulness

Using what you have to work like your working for God, even when no one is watching, is certainly resourceful and getting the job done on your own is great. But did you know it’s even better when you have help from someone else. Can you think of a time that without someone’s help you would not have been able to get the job done? Join us at K-town and find out who is always on your side and willing to give you help.

Tuesday, January 6, 2009

Resourcefulness

So we’ve been talking about how to work as if we are working for God, the big boss. You know, unlike God, our parents and teachers are not always watching us. Do you ever do things differently when no one is around to see? Join us at K-town and find out why the Bible, our greatest resource for resourcefulness, says we should be more like ANTS.

Thursday, January 1, 2009

Resourcefulness

If you’re like me, you probably don't like to work. But did you know that God created all of us to be workers. Although it doesn’t sound like fun, God knows what’s best for us and he wants us to work hard at everything we do. So check out K-town this weekend and find out how you can work like you’re working for God.
